SRINAGAR, MAY 14 – Government has issued notifications for electing Members to 6-Parkachik and 15-Silmo constituencies of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil, in accordance with the provisions of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Act, 1997 and rules made there-under.
The constituencies have fallen vacant due to election of Aga Syed Ahmed as Member, J&K Legislative Council, representing 6-Parkachik and Mr. Feroz Ahmed Khan, representing 15-Silmo, on being elected as Member, J&K Legislative Assembly, from 50-Zanskar Assembly constituency.
The nominations can be made from May, 25, 2009 and the last day of filing nomination will be June 1. Scrutiny of papers will take place the next day while as last date for withdrawal of nominations is June 4. Polling will take place on June 19 while as counting will be held on June 22. The election process will be completed before June 24.
The government has appointed Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, as the Election Authority for supervision of electoral rolls and conduct of elections to the Council while as Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, has been appointed as Election Officer for purpose of Council areas.
Ghulam Mehdi, Tehsildar, Sankoo and Mr. Juma Khan, Assistant Registrar, Cooperatives, have been appointed as Returning and Assistant Returning officers for 6- Parkachik constituency respectively.
Similarly Mr. Ghulam Mehdi, Tehsildar, Kargil and Mr. Mohammad Hussain, Zonal Sports Officer, YSS Department, Kargil have been appointed as Returning and Assistant Returning Officers for 15-Silmo constituency respectively.
