Jammu, May 14: While as Chairman of the moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) Moulvi Omar Farooq, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Mohammad Yaseen Malik and other separatists leaders were released from house arrest today, the government revoked PSA of eight detenues and ordered release of 36 others who were held for anti-election activities. The release of separatist leaders came after the five-phase Parliamentary elections in the Jammu and Kashmir came to an end yesterday with 42 per cent poll percentage in Ladakh and Baramulla constituencies. The leaders were put under house arrest to prevent them from leading anti-poll rallies in the Kashmir valley. All parties Hurriyat conference chairman Mirwaiz Omar, who was released on last Friday after about two weeks of house arrest, was later again put under arrest from Saturday. He remained confined in his Nigeen house as he was not being allowed to move out of his house by the security forces personnel deployed outside, a spokesman of the amalgam said. The State government has issued orders for release of 36 persons, who were recently arrested in connection with maintenance of law and order in the State, besides revoking detention order of eight others under PSA. The decision was taken in a Review Committee meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary, S. S. Kapur here today. The meeting was held on the instructions of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. The persons being released include eight detenues whose detention under PSA has been revoked. These persons are Javed Ahmad Khan, son of Mohammad Yousuf, of Pahalipora, Sheeri, Baramulla, Irfan Ahmad Akhoon, alias Imran, son of Ghulam Mohammad, resident of Khanpora, Baramulla, Mohammad Rafiq Ganai, son of Abdul Aziz, of Telwani, Anantnag, presently Kanihama, Nowgam, Srinagar, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, code Peer Saifullah, son of Ali Mohammad, resident of Zadoora, Pulwama, presently Hyderpora, Srinagar, Mashooq Ahmad Magray, son of Abdul Rashid, of Mungahal, Anantnag, Abdul Qayoom Mattoo, son of Assadullah, resident of Umar Mohalla, Kishtwar, Doda, Ghulam Mohiuddin Naik, alias Kawa, son of Mohammad Jamal, of Ahlan, Taraji, Kokernag, Anantnag and Mohammad Rafiq Pahloo, alias Nanaji, alias Mohammad Salim, son of Ghulam Hassan, resident of Azad Basti, Natipora, Srinagar. The other 28 persons being released are presently lodged in various police stations or in judicial custody under preventive sections for their involvement in various law and order-related incidents during Lok Sabha elections which concluded yesterday.
