Chandigarh, Nov 7: Union Minister for Power, Housing & Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal has said that the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita is eternal and continues to guide humanity toward righteousness. Addressing the Gita Youth Summit–2025 organized by GIO Gita at Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium, he said the Gita inspires every individual to follow the path of truth, self-discipline, and duty. The conference was presided over by Shri Arun Kumar, senior RSS functionary and Sah Sarkaryavah, and graced by Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj, who urged youth to imbibe Gita’s message for personal growth and social welfare. Union Minister Manohar Lal emphasized that the Gita provides solutions even in times of crisis and that its teachings can lead the world toward peace and harmony. Recalling his initiative as the former Chief Minister of Haryana, he said, “In 2015, we resolved to take the message of the Gita to the world. That’s when the International Gita Mahotsav began in Kurukshetra, and today, the message of the Gita has reached across continents.” He praised Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj for taking the Gita to global platforms, including foreign parliaments. “The Gita’s every verse is inspirational and relevant in every era. If youth adopt its message, their energy and enthusiasm can become a driving force for nation-building and for realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he added. Speaking on the occasion, Arun Kumar said the Gita is unique because it is the only scripture whose Jayanti (anniversary) is celebrated globally. He noted that while both the Gita and the Bible are translated into many languages, the Gita’s translations have been done by those who have truly understood its essence. Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj stated that the Gita is not merely a book to be placed in temples but a universal scripture that offers peace and purpose to humanity. He added that the Gita Youth Summit aims to instill positive energy, values, and discipline among the younger generation, making it a foundation for building a peaceful world. Madan Mohan Chhabra, former chairman of the 48 Kos Tirth Monitoring Committee, said that it was Manohar Lal’s vision that gave the Gita Jayanti celebration an international identity. Under his initiative, the message of the Gita has reached global platforms, and now Chief Minister Nayab Saini is continuing this legacy. The 10th International Gita Mahotsav will be telecast in 51 countries, with scholars from 27 nations and ambassadors from 30 countries participating in Kurukshetra. The event concluded with a collective resolve to spread the timeless message of the Bhagavad Gita — peace through duty, unity through knowledge, and strength through self-control.
