Udhampur, Nov 8: Continuing its intensified drive against bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police rescued 16 bovine animals in two separate incidents and seized both vehicles used in the crime. Case 1: Acting on a reliable input, Police Party of Police Post Jaganoo under PS Udhampur established a naka near Tawi Bridge, Jaganoo, and intercepted a Tata Yodha vehicle (JK14E-8153) coming from Dhalphar side. During checking, 06 bovine animals tied cruelly and being transported illegally towards Ramban/Srinagar were rescued. The accused driver Rahim Ali S/o Jamal Din and co-driver Mohd Gani S/o Noor Mohd, both residents of Tharad, Udhampur, were arrested. In this regards a Case under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Udhampur. Case 2: During naka checking at NHW Kud, Police Party of PS Kud intercepted a Tata Pickup (JK02CJ-9608) coming from Chenani side. The driver fled from the spot, leaving behind the vehicle loaded with 10 bovine animals tied cruelly and being transported without valid permission. In this regard, Case FIR No. 43/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Kud and investigation is in progress.
