Jammu, Nov 7: To mark National Cancer Awareness Day 2025, the State Cancer Institute, Jammu organized an inter-college Poster-Making Competition on Saturday on the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day, drawing enthusiastic participation from students of various nursing colleges across Jammu region. The event aimed to spread awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and the importance of healthy lifestyle choices. Nursing students showcased their creativity through posters highlighting key messages on tobacco cessation, breast and cervical cancer screening, balanced nutrition, and the role of nurses in cancer care and patient education. The programme was held under the guidance of Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal & Dean, Govt. Medical College, Jammu & under the direct supervision of Dr. Deepak Kumar, Medical Superintendent, State Cancer Institute, Jammu who appreciated the efforts of all participating students and emphasized the importance of youth engagement in cancer awareness initiatives. He noted that such creative platforms not only educate participants but also empower them to become ambassadors of health within their communities. Judges for the event included Dr. Rajeev Gupta, Astt. Professor & HOD of Medical Oncology, State Cancer Institute Jammu, Dr. Suby Singh, Astt. Professor, Pathology, State Cancer Institute Jammu, Jyoti Rokri, Astt. Account Officer, SSH, Gayander shaukla from Amar Ujala Lovy from IPHH and Umar from Bee Enn College of Nursing evaluated the entries based on creativity, clarity of message, and relevance to the theme. Azaan & Team from IPHH College of Nursing 2. Ayushi & Arti from Bee Enn College of Nursing 3. Fiza Tabasum & Team from Bee Enn College of Nursing 4. Ayushi Sharma & Team from Bee Enn College of Nursing Faculty members and students from Bee Enn Nursing College, Rajeev Gandhi College of Nursing, and other participating institutions attended the event, making it a vibrant and inspiring occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Deepak Kumar reiterated the commitment of the State Cancer Institute to promoting cancer awareness through community outreach and educational programmes. He also highlighted the need for regular screenings and early diagnosis to reduce cancer-related morbidity and mortality in the region. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the organizing committee, acknowledging the support of faculty members, participants, and volunteers for making the competition a success.
