| BMS to hold protest on May 20 at Samba | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SAMBA, MAY 15: Labour leaders of various Industrial organizations from Gangyal and Samba Industrial areas have criticized the state government for not issuing SRO with regard to increasing the minimum wages of the workers. In a meeting chaired by senior leader of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Lakshman Ravinder Singh said in the last meeting of state advisory board held under the chairmanship of state labour minister on March 26, 2009 assured that the SRO will be issued soon, but three months have passed and action has been taken in this regard. He said poor workers are facing hardships but on the other hand minister often makes public statement that minimum wages will be Rs 4500/- P.M and contract labour system should be stopped but there is a lot of exploitation of poor workers and field staff of Labour Dep’t is not function properly. As per press release workers decided in the meeting to hold a mass demonstration/Dharna in support of their demand at DC office Samba on 20th May 2009 and appealed to all workers to participate in the demonstration in large numbers. In the meeting, Harbans Choudhary State Gen. Secretary, Shamsher Chand, president Distt Samba, Nanak Chand, Karam Chand, Rashpaul Singh, Surjeet Singh, Ravinder Singh, Som Dass and Balbir Singh prominent leaders participated in the meeting.
