| Forest Employees threaten hunger strike on DFO’s removal | | | Early Times Report

Jammu and Kashmir forest department employees today threatened to go on an indefinite hunger strike from May 19 if the state government fails to revoke the orders of attachment of two senior officers in connection with eviction of gujjar encroacher's from Karnali Chak area.
Over 200 employees of social forestry wing sat on a dharna in Talab Tillo office for the second day today and demanded revocation of the attachment orders of two senior officers - Regional Director, Social Forestry, Jammu, Opender Pachnanda and Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forestry, Roop Avtar Kour by the forest minister and senion gujjar leader Main Altaf.
Raising slogans against the forest minister and government, they threatened to launch pen down strike and indefinite strike from May 19, if the government failed to revoke the orders.
They blamed that the government and forest minister, who is a senior gujjar leader, was shielding gujjar encroacher's, who had encroached upon several hectares of nursery land of social welfare land at Karnali Chak, where these officers had evicted gujjars from land as per their duty.
The protesting employees had yesterday met deputy chief minister Tara Chand and asked him to intervene into the matter and revoke the orders
