Jammu, Nov 12: The Outreach Department of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu, in collaboration with the Kritash Club, organized an awareness program titled “Shakti” on Menstrual Health and Hygiene, accompanied by a Lab Visit and Career Guidance Session for students from KV Jindrah and Government Middle School Jindrah. As part of its Outreach and Skill Development initiatives, IIT Jammu hosted around 150 students and teacher escorts on campus. The event was held under the guidance and support of Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu; Prof. Meenakshi Rajeev, Dean, Outreach and Skill Development; Dr. Sanchita Shrivastav, PIC, Kritash Club; Dr. Sameer KSP, Associate Dean, Outreach; and Ms. Jeyoti Kaul, Project Associate, Outreach Department. An awareness session on Menstrual Health and Hygiene was conducted by Dr. Karunika Sharma, Medical Officer, IIT Jammu, for girl students aged 14–18 years. The session aimed to promote menstrual hygiene, dispel myths, and foster open discussions on reproductive health and wellbeing. As part of the visit, students explored the Chemistry Lab and Mechanical Workshop of IIT Jammu, where they gained hands-on exposure to scientific and engineering concepts. The program concluded with a Career Guidance Session, encouraging students to aspire for higher education and diverse career paths. The initiative received enthusiastic participation and appreciation from both students and faculty members for promoting health awareness and inspiring educational growth. Volunteers from the Kritash Club — including Aditya Pratap Singh (Coordinator), along with Prateek, Aryan, Ananya, Anushka, Arun, Pankaj, Madhura, Divyansh, Subrahmanyam, Himanshu, Pratyansh, Ashwath, and others — played a pivotal role in organizing the event successfully.
