Thannamandi, Nov 12, 2025: Shikshit Bharat/Literary Activities Committee in collaboration with Department of Library Science of GDC Thannamandi organized a seminar on to celebrate National Education Day, birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad , on the theme “Reading Culture—Reviving the Habit: Bringing Books Back into Young Hands and Curious Minds” with great enthusiasm and intellectual fervor. The seminar was organized under the patronage of Principal Dr Farooq Ahmad, honoring the legacy of India’s first Education Minister and a visionary architect of modern education. The event underscored the enduring relevance of Azad’s ideals, especially the transformative power of reading and education. The programme commenced with a welcome Address by Dr. Nazar ul Islam, Convener of the Shikshit Bharat/Literary Activity Committee, who in is address paid tribute to Maulana Azad’s role in fostering national unity across religious lines and emphasized the need to uphold his educational vision. Dr. Farooq Ahmad, Principal of GDC Thanamandi, delivered an insightful speech on the challenges posed by the digital age to traditional reading habits. He urged students to cultivate a daily reading practice and took a symbolic pledge with them to read a few pages each night before bed. Resource Person Dr. Ashiq Malik delivered an enlightening keynote address on Maulana Azad’s foundational contributions to India’s educational infrastructure. He highlighted the establishment of premier institutions like the IITs and other academic bodies that continue to shape the nation’s intellectual landscape. The seminar was enriched by engaging speeches from students Zia ur Rehman and Haya Abad, who shared personal reflections on the value of reading and the inspiration drawn from Azad’s life. Hosted by Prof. Rizwana Kousar, the seminar maintained a warm and inclusive tone throughout. .Dr. Supriya Gupta concluded the event with a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and attendees.
