Amritsar, Nov 12: The Spiritual and Mental Health Club of DAV College, Amritsar organized an enlightening session on “Stress Management and Mindful Study Techniques” to promote mental well-being and focus among students. Dr. Amardeep Gupta, Principal of the College, inaugurated the session and highlighted the importance of positive thinking and emotional balance in students’ lives. He emphasized that a calm and optimistic mind is essential for both academic success and overall well-being. Dr. Vikram Chaudhary, Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and the key speaker, discussed the causes of poor concentration and stress among students in the digital age. He elaborated on how mindful study techniques—such as studying at a fixed time and place, regular revision, keeping mobile phones off while studying, writing affirmations on chart paper, maintaining self-awareness, preparing mind notes, and short breaks with deep breathing—help synchronize the body and mind. He also linked these practices with scientific findings on the Default Mode Network and spiritual insights from Vedanta and Sikh teachings on meditation and mindfulness. Dr. K. S. Arya, Convener of the Club, demonstrated some simple yoga and breathing techniques useful for relaxation and stress control. The session received an enthusiastic response from students, who appreciated the integration of science and spirituality in addressing modern academic challenges. The program concluded with an interactive discussion, where participants shared their reflections and pledged to apply mindful habits in their daily study routine.
