Early Times Report DODA, Nov 12: Continuing the outreach initiative aimed at strengthening Police-Public relations and enhancing grassroots engagement, SSP Doda, Shri Sandeep Mehta, JKPS, today toured the far-flung Gundna and Tantna areas of Doda and held a Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting with local residents. He was accompanied by DySP Headquarters Doda, Coy Commander of 25 AR, IC PP Gundna and other senior officers The meeting was attended by around 60-70 prominent citizens, including Numberdars, Chowkidars, PRI members, and elderly persons of the area. The objective of the interaction was to listen to the issues and grievances of the general public and to review the prevailing security scenario in the region. Among the key issues raised by the public was the establishment of Village Defence Group (VDG) units in the Ludna/Gundna area. SSP Doda assured that all genuine grievances pertaining to the police department would be addressed on priority, while other public issues would be taken up with the concerned civil administration and line departments for early redressal. While addressing the gathering, SSP Doda emphasized that Doda Police is committed to reaching out to people living in remote areas to address their problems effectively. The SSP also urged locals to promptly share information with the police regarding any instances of illicit liquor trade, bovine smuggling, drug trafficking, or other suspicious activities, so that timely preventive and legal action can be taken. Later, SSP Doda also held a meeting with field officers and directed them to maintain close surveillance over suspects, drug addicts, OGWs (Over-Ground Workers), troublemakers, miscreants, and rumor-mongers, and to take preventive measures to uphold law and order. He called for an intensified crackdown on drug peddlers, identification of their supply networks, and decisive action against major suppliers. |
