| Renowned Theatrist Majboor passes away at 57 | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, May 15 Renowned Theatre Director and Actor Ghulam Ali Majboor passes away today at Village Wathoora a few Kilometers from here. He was 57. Since April 2008 he was suffering from a deadly disease Adenochosonoma also known as cancer. Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Secretary of State Academy in a condolence message said that departed soul Ghulam Ali Majboor was a legendry figure among folk artists of Kashmir. “Majboor has devoted his whole life for promotion of theatre in Kashmir, he said recalling the contribution of late soul. Other who spoke about the contributions of Majboor includes Haroon Rashid, Mipam Utsal, O P Shrma, Ashraf Tak, Dr. Javaid Rahi and Iqbal Malangami. Speakers also recalled that the departed soul was the founder member of Kashmir’s leading theatre group “ National Bhand Theatre and held the post of Director of National Bhand Theatre, till his death and had been associated with a number of associations and groups working for promotion of Art, Culture and Languages in the State. ‘He was a teacher by profession and remained associated with State Academy of Art, Culture and Languages as “Visiting Senior Artist”. He was also member of various high level committees being constituted by State and Centre Government from time to time. He had also produced more than two dozen documentaries of Folk-Theatres of Kashmir, they recalled.
