| Relocation of helipad away from cave shrine hailed | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 15 Jammu Prayatan Vikas Mandal (JPVM) has hailed the decision by the state Governor and Chairman Shri Amarnath Shrine Board to shift the helipad for ferrying pilgrims to Baba Amarnath Shrine farther from the cave shrine. In a meeting of Jammu Paryatan Vikas Mandal (JPVM) held here today, under the chairmanship of its President Kuldeep Wahi, said that it was the long pending demand of JPVM as well as many other NGOs and organizations connected with pilgrimage to keep the helipad at a distance to avoid early melting of Ice Lingam. JPVM has also welcomed extension of sales tax holiday to the hotels and lodges on the rent charged by them for the rooms. It has however demanded similar relaxation on VAT on the food served by the restaurants attached with hotels. The members in this meeting also thanked the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, for conceding their demand to not effect power curtailment in Jammu city and also provide regular adequate water supply during the period of Amarnath Yatra. Inderjeet Khajuria President All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association and Gen Secretary Jammu Prayatan Vikas Mandal has asked all its 300 member units to allow 30% discount on the rooms let out to the pilgrims during Amarnath Yatra as well as allow 20% discount on food items served by the restaurants attached with the hotels for the convenience of pilgrims. JPVM has demanded that a direct link road connecting right bank of bridge over river Tawi with the Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar should be constructed soon along the Tawi bank, to avoid congestion and traffic jams on the existing narrow lane from Ranbir Canal bridge to the yatri niwas in Bhagwati Nagar.
