| Inner Song | | | | While speaking at the valedictory function of the first phase of celebrations marking the 150th year of the national song ‘Vande Mataram,’ Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha highlighted the importance of the national song. The national song written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay strengthened the bond between motherland and her sons and inspired people to secure the independence. Chandra’s inspiring contribution in the country’s freedom struggle has been inscribed in history in golden letters and country celebrating 150-years of “Vande Mataram” is a tribute to him and all the freedom fighters who strived to get rid of British rule. LG Sinha while paying tributes to Chandra reiterated that every Indian heart has an inner song and that is Vande Mataram and during freedom struggle when Vande Mataram was sung by someone, other hearts were humming it back. Thus, a strong bond was created which should inspire young generation today to serve Maa Bharti. The ideals of Bankim Chandra shaped India’s freedom struggle and its should serve as guiding force to take Jammu Kashmir forward into the future. The courage, wisdom and strong conviction shown by Bankim Chandra should serve as a lesson for all as it can go a long way in building a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. Chandra’s literary genius and courage in giving voice to a nation’s yearning for freedom defined one’s love for country. It transcended fear, oppression, and division. As the country celebrates the 150th year of the powerful anthem, it does more than honour a song; it pays tribute to the countless freedom fighters who lived and died for the dream of a free India. As India steps into the future, the celebration of 150 years of Vande Mataram is not just about honouring the past. It is a call to reinforce national unity, to uphold shared values, and to ensure that the sacrifices of our ancestors become the foundation for a stronger, progressive, and inclusive India. The song that once inspired a generation to fight for freedom must now inspire us to protect and nurture that freedom — with the same passion, the same conviction, and the same unwavering love for the motherland. The overwhelming participation of J&K people in programmes like ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ is a sign that the region is shedding its past and moving towards a bright future. |
