| BJYM stages protest against Geelani’s remarks about yatra | | |

The activists of BJP Yuva Morcha today staged rally in front of Raj Bhawan protesting over the statement of Hurriyat Conference leader Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani for reducing the period of Shri Amarnath Yatra to 15 days instead of 2 months.
About hundred activists, led by BJYM East Mandal President Sanjeev Gupta, raised slogans against Geelani and burnt his effigy in front of the Raj Bhawan.
They also urged the Governor, who is also chairman of Shri Amarnath shrine Board (SASB), not to pay any heed to separatist leader. Supporting SASB’s decision to continue the yatra period for 2 months as in the past, the activists demanded stern action against Geelani’s communal statement which tantamount to spreading disaffection against Hindus. Geelani had recently asked the Shrine Board to limit the yatra for 15 days as 2 month period of yatra was affecting the ecology and envirnoment in the valley.
