Early Times Report LUCKNOW, Nov 14: A stakeholder workshop of the Horticulture and Sugarcane departments was held on Friday, focusing on building a Samarth and Viksit Uttar Pradesh by 2047. Farmers and scientists unanimously stated that, under the visionary leadership of the Yogi government, Uttar Pradesh is poised to become the driving force of a Viksit Bharat. Taking a pledge for the state's growth, farmers resolved to continue contributing to its prosperity. They lauded the government's initiatives in the agricultural sector, saying Uttar Pradesh is on its way to becoming the powerhouse of a Viksit Bharat. While previous governments relied on five-year plans, the double-engine government has set short-term, medium-term, and long-term strategies for the holistic development of the state and nation. Colonel Subhash Deshwal, a carrot farmer from Bulandshahr, praised the government's vision for 2047. He said, "Earlier, only five-year plans were prepared, but for the first time, central and state governments have an action plan until 2047. Now, work must be carried out with clear focus and milestones for short-, medium-, and long-term progress. The Uttar Pradesh Food Processing Policy 2023 is excellent, and farmers should take full advantage of it. Continued support for government policies will also encourage educated youth to take up farming." Dr. Priyanka Singh, Senior Scientist at the Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane Research Council, Shahjahanpur, highlighted the government's initiatives to Viksit Uttar Pradesh by 2047 and stressed the importance of AI in agriculture. She advocated the formation of a Sugarcane Task Force and emphasized integrating AI into sugarcane cultivation practices. AI can improve soil health, reduce excessive water and fertilizer usage, and increase productivity. She also noted the need for periodic farmer training, capacity building, and coordinated research with institutes and sugar mills to ensure high-quality agricultural research aligned with development goals. Progressive farmers also shared their experiences. Udit Narayan Verma of Jarwal Road, Bahraich, who cultivates sugarcane, wheat, and paddy, said, "The government is enriching the present for a better future. Timely supply of fertilizers, seeds, subsidies, and other facilities is helping farmers thrive, and our hard work, combined with government support, is enhancing our families' prosperity." Himanshu Verma of Alinagar Mohammadi, Lakhimpur Kheri, added, "The Yogi government's farming policies are excellent. Timely guidance, departmental schemes, and subsidies provide growth opportunities. Along with farming, the government is also focusing on increasing farmers' income, driving the vision of a Viksit Uttar Pradesh by 2047." |
