| Chamb displaced persons hold meet | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 16: Chhamb displaced persons of 1965 in a meeting held at Sai Camp, R.S. Pura hold under the presidentship of S.R. Nagial, president of the Displaced persons Association discussed pending demands of displaced persons from Chhamb sector.
In the meeting members discussed their problems which included such as conferment of occupancy/tenancy right on the evacuee land and ownership rights over the state land allotted to them, payment of cash compensation for the deficiency of allotable units of land in their favour, ten percent reservation quota for their wards in govt. jobs and other educational/professional institutions and colleges. They also demands immediate payment of cash compensation for their land which has come under Ditch Cum Bandh, Bunkers and under occupation of the security forces.
Nagial informed the gathering that as for as the ownership on state land and occupancy/tenancy right over evacueeland is concerned, the decision has been taken in the last joint meeting April 28 with the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, where it has been decided that the needful will be done with in a period of two months through the Deputy Commissioner concerned. As regards, reservation quota in govt. job and professional colleges is concerned, the Divisional Commissioner has promised to take up the matter with the govt. for re-storing the benefit of reservation quota by including 47 village which are now not with us treating those for the benefit of reservation for the wards of Chhamb Displaced persons of 1965/1971.
Others who spoke in the meeting included Daya Ram, H/Capt. Jarnail Singh, Ex. Hav. Dewan Chand, H/Capt. Parkash Chand, Rattan Lal, Sham Lal, Krishan Numberdar, Pola Ram, Mohan Lal and Bahadur Singh.
