| JKAACL organize multilingual ‘Kahani Goshti | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, (JKAACL) organized a Multilingual Kahanai Goshti at K.L. Saigal Hall. Lalit Magotra, prominent Dogri writer presided and Prof. Devinder Singh, Punjabi writer, was the chief guest on the occasion. Prof. Magotra, while delivering presidential address appreciated the short story writers and said that all the three short stories presented in Dogri, Hindi and Punjabi were the representatives of their respective languages. Complimenting the Cultural Academy, he said that in the summer session Academy has initiated a series of Multilingual literary activities not only in K.L. Saigal Hall but also in the remote and border areas also. He said that through such programmes the writers community of the various languages being spoken in the region will have an opportunity to interact and to know about the literature written in their contemporary languages. Prof. Devinder Singh, speaking on the occasion said that the Jammu and Kashmir State has the composite, multilingual and multicultural atmosphere in which the writers community of the respective languages and cultures are blessed with the diversity of the state. He said that such type of literary activities help a lot the writers, poets, artists to learn in reciprocated manner. Earlier, while welcoming the guests, Savita Bakshi, said that the Academy has decided to initiate the regular literary activities on every Saturday, in the K.L. Saigal Hall and musical programmes at every Wednesday. She said that besides this ‘Dhanak IV is also being organized at Doda at 18th and 19th of May, 2009. She informed the audience that childrens’ summer workshop is also commencing in the first week of the June, 2009. In today programme Dr. Manoj (Dogri), Harbhajan Singh Sagar (Punjabi) and Maharaj Krishan Santoshi (Hindi) presented their short stories which were highly applauded and appreciated by the audience. Neeru Sharma, editor Hindi conducted the proceedings and Shamima Akhtar, S.O.C.A, GI presented vote of the thanks.
