Jammu, Nov 19: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rohiin Chandan today welcomed the commencement of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in West Bengal and hailed the Election Commission of India’s proactive measures to ensure a clean, accurate, and impartial electoral roll ahead of future elections. Chandan pointed out that despite continuous opposition and resistance from the Trinamool Congress government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Election Commission has firmly moved ahead with the crucial exercise of purifying the voter list. “The Mamata Banerjee government has been consistently trying to obstruct every effort to bring transparency to the electoral process. But the people of Bengal are watching, and the Election Commission is determined to protect the sanctity of democracy,” he said. He underscored that in West Bengal, a high-level team from the Election Commission of India is supervising the SIR process for four days. They will engage with district election officers, booth-level officers, political parties, and other stakeholders to ensure the revision work is conducted transparently. The initiative aims to eliminate bogus voters, thereby restoring faith in the democratic process. He emphasized that in another landmark step, the Election Commission is preparing to roll out an advanced artificial intelligence-based verification tool specifically for West Bengal. This state-of-the-art technology will scientifically detect fictitious voters, shifted voters, and deceased persons still appearing on the rolls. “The Modi-led government at the center is fully committed to ensuring free and fair elections in Bengal. The introduction of AI-based verification is a revolutionary measure that will make it virtually impossible for any political party to indulge in electoral malpractice,” Chandan asserted. He reiterated that the people of West Bengal have made up their minds to bring an end to the misrule, corruption, and political violence unleashed by the Trinamool Congress. “The writing is on the wall. In the coming elections—whether Assembly or any other—the Bharatiya Janata Party will form the next government in West Bengal with a thumping majority. The people want development, peace, and prosperity, which only a BJP government under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi can deliver,” he declared. Rohiin emphasized the BJP's commitment to protecting democracy in West Bengal, urging genuine voters to collaborate with Booth Level Officers during the Special Intensive Revision for name enrollment, deletion, or correction. He called on youth aged 18 and above to register as voters to ensure the future of Bengal is secure. |
