Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 20: In a major public-outreach initiative, Jammu Police today at the Parent-teachers meet events, conducted an extensive district-wide awareness campaign across government schools, colleges, public places, and community hubs, focusing on Drug Abuse Prevention, Cyber Crime Awareness, New Criminal Laws, Traffic Safety, and General Security.
These programmes witnessed overwhelming participation from students, teachers, parents, staff, and members of the general public.
Awareness sessions were organised at more than 40 locations across the district, including Government High Schools, Higher Secondary Schools, Degree Colleges, public markets, and community areas. Police teams led by SDPO's/SHO's/Ic Police Posts and other officers briefed participants on the harmful effects of drug abuse, early signs of addiction, legal consequences under NDPS Act, and the collective role of families and schools in preventing substance abuse.
Special sessions on Cyber Crime Awareness were also held, highlighting threats like online financial frauds, phishing, OTP scams, social-media impersonation, sextortion, loan-app frauds, and digital blackmail. Citizens were educated on essential cyber-safety practices, secure digital behaviour, and the importance of reporting incidents on the national cybercrime helpline 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in.
