| National Seminar on "Linguistic Relationship of Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu held | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Nov 23: The two-day National Seminar on 'Linguistic Relationship of Sanskrit, Hindi and Urdu (Ancient Roots to Modern Divergence)' concluded yesterday evening at Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur, organized under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The event was hosted by the Departments of Sanskrit, Hindi & Urdu, GCW Udhampur. The Valedictory Session was graced by the Chief Guest, Sh. Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA Chenani-Ghordi, congratulate GCW Udhampur and the Departments of Sanskrit, Hindi & Urdu for organizing such an intellectually significant seminar under the aegis of IQAC. MLA Mankotia said that the relationship between Sanskrit, Hindi, and Urdu is not merely academic; it is the story of a shared civilization. Sanskrit is our ancient foundation, Hindi is its natural evolution, and Urdu is a magnificent example of cultural confluence. Together, these languages represent India's composite identity, where knowledge, poetry, and culture flow seamlessly across centuries. MLA also express his heartfelt appreciation for the cultural programme presented by the students. Mr. Mankotia said that Dogra Geetru, Kashmiri dance, Gojri folk song, and Dogri folk dance showcased today were not mere performances they were reflections of the soul of Jammu & Kashmir. He informed that our region is blessed with cultural richness, and seeing young students preserve and celebrate this heritage fills me with pride. MLA compliments to the Department of Music for preparing such beautiful performances. In her address by the Principal Dr. Nalini Pathania, it gives me immense pleasure to welcome you all to the Valedictory Session of this National Seminar. Over the last two days, we have witnessed meaningful discussions, scholarly interactions, and inspiring cultural reflections, all centred around the theme 'Linguistic Relationship of Sanskrit, Hindi and Urdu: Ancient Roots to Modern Divergence.' She said that at GCW Udhampur, we take great pride in hosting academic activities that create a bridge between knowledge, culture, and innovation. This seminar stands as a shining example of how education can illuminate our understanding of history, language, and identity, She added. Seminar Convenor, Dr. Mool Raj, briefed the audience about the theme, objectives, and academic significance of the seminar, emphasizing the need to understand the historical connections and modern divergences among Sanskrit, Hindi, and Urdu. The seminar featured two academic sessions. In the Morning Technical Session, research papers were presented by scholars from various institutions. The session was presided over by Prof. Ram Bahadur, Head, Department of Sanskrit, University of Jammu, and Dr. Pervez Ahmed, Associate Professor, Urdu, JNU, who also addressed the gathering with their insightful remarks. Following the paper presentations, students from the Department of Music showcased a vibrant cultural programme representing the rich heritage of Jammu & Kashmir. The performances included: Dogra Geetru Dance by Pooja and Group, Kashmiri Dance by Harshita and Group, Gojri Folk Song by Naseem Akhter and Group, Dogri Folk Dance by Shruti-Mehak and Group. The cultural items received loud applause and appreciation from the audience for their energy and artistic excellence. |
