| Viksit Bharat - Yuva Connect programme organized at Guru Nanak Dev University | | | AMRITSAR, Nov 23: Under the esteemed patronage of the Worthy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, Guru Nanak Dev University, the NSS Unit of the University successfully organized an extensive Yuva Connect programme as part of the nationwide initiative Viksit Bharat - Yuva Connect. The programme aimed to inspire young citizens to actively participate in national development and to create awareness about India's vision for 2047. The event commenced with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Balbir Singh, NSS Coordinator, who introduced the theme and objectives of Yuva Connect. He emphasized the pivotal role played by youth in shaping India's socio-economic future and highlighted the importance of youth-centric policies and engagement platforms. Prof. (Dr.) Amandeep Singh, Director, Youth Welfare, GNDU, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, he encouraged students to embrace innovation, leadership, and responsible citizenship. He underscored how national initiatives such as Viksit Bharat and Make in India provide vast opportunities for young minds to contribute meaningfully to the nation's growth and global standing. The programme was further enriched by the presence of officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Mr. Pratham Singh and Mr. Ankush from the Regional Directorate Office, Chandigarh, shared insights into various youth development schemes, capacity-building programmes, and collaborative opportunities available to educational institutions. A special highlight of the event was the participation of Ms. Kavya Singh, Youth Icon of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. She delivered an inspiring address on the aspirations of a developed India and engaged students in a dynamic Yuva Samvad session. Her interaction encouraged young participants to reflect on their role as future change-makers and to channel their energies into nation-building activities. On this occasion Mr. Adil Teli, a two time Guinness world record holder in cycling from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari was also honored. His record breaking ride is a reminder to every young person that consistency can turn even the toughest paths into milestone. To reinforce the theme of self-reliance and innovation, a short documentary video on the Make in India initiative was screened, showcasing India's progress in manufacturing, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement. The programme was seamlessly coordinated by NSS Programme Officers Dr. Harkirandeep Kaur and Dr. Aditya Parihar, who ensured active participation and smooth conduct of all sessions. The event witnessed enthusiastic involvement from faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students from various schools and colleges, reflecting strong community engagement and youth interest. The Yuva Connect programme at GNDU concluded on a positive and motivational note, reaffirming the university's commitment to strengthening youth leadership and contributing to the national vision of a developed India. |
