ISA, GMC organise Walkathon, sports day

JAMMU, Nov 23: The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) Jammu in collaboration with Dept. of Anaesthesia and critical care, GMC, Jammu successfully organized WALKATHON and Sports Day 2025, a spirited event promoting awareness about vital role of Anaesthesiologists and importance of patient safety in perioperative period.
The event commenced with ISA flag hoisting by Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean, GMC Jammu, Dr. Anita Vig, HOD Anaesthesia, GMC Jammu, Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Dr. Rajesh Mahajan, Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, Chairman sports committee and other senior faculty members. The Walkathon then was officially flagged off by Dr Ashwani Kumar, ISA Jammu President and Dr Updesh Kumar, General secretary ISA Jammu. The Walkathon saw enthusiastic participation with more than 200 attendees including doctors and paramedical staff across various institutions in Jammu including GMC Jammu, ASCOMS, AIIMS Jammu, Narayana Hospital, JK Health Services, GMC Udhampur and GMC Kathua.
This was followed by a formal inauguration ceremony and Lamp Lighting Ceremony by Guest of Honour Mr. Chandeep Singh, Dr Anita Vig, Dr Ashwani, Dr Rajesh Mahajan, Dr Satyadev, Dr Gurmeet and Dr Updesh. Shri Chandeep Singh, an internationally acclaimed para-athlete motivated participants to embrace a lifestyle of fitness and resilience.
Post-inauguration, the celebrations continued with a series of sports activities, where participants including HODs, Consultants, Residents and paraclinical staff showcased remarkable energy, teamwork and sporting spirit. The ceremony also included the felicitation of winners from the sports events recognizing excellence in badminton, table tennis, chess, carrom, ludo, various races and other games.
The event was glorified with the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Dr. Anju Jamwal, Dr Madan Katoch, Dr Sangeeta Singh, Dr Gurmeet Singh, Dr Satyadev Gupta, Dr Renu Wakhloo, Dr Mushtaq Wani, Dr Naine, Dr Kunal, Dr Ankita Atri, Dr Vishal Kant, Dr Raksha Kundal, Dr Laughi Bhan, Dr Shelly Mahajan, Dr Era Suri, Dr Santosh Rajput, Dr Isha Gupta, Dr Neha Dang, Dr Preeti, Dr Ashufta, Dr Heena Gupta, Dr Rajdeep, Dr Rohit Lahori and many others.
The Organizing Committee, ISA Jammu-led by President Dr. Ashwani Kumar and General Secretary Dr. Updesh Kumar-ensured the smooth conduct of the event and extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants for making WALKATHON & SPORTS DAY 2025 a grand success.
