Jammu, Nov 24: The Directorate of Health Services Jammu (DHSJ) Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar, today organized a Skill Enhancement Workshop on Bio-Medical Waste Management at its Conference Hall with the aim of strengthening safe waste handling practices across the Jammu Division. The programme witnessed participation of Nodal Officers, Incharges , paramedical staff from various health institutions. The workshop was inaugurated by Assistant Director Health Education Bureau Dr. Simmi, who highlighted the importance of proper segregation, storage, transportation, and disposal of bio-medical waste in ensuring patient and staff safety, as well as environmental protection. A team of expert resource persons were Dr. Anju Sidha Coordination Pollution Control Board who discussed about Legal Act of Bio medical waste Management 2016, Mr. Manglesh Finance Head from Anmol Health Care and Mr. Ayaz Ali detailed sessions covering: Updated Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, Segregation protocols and colour-coding, On-site handling and safe transportation, Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), Common errors and corrective actions, Documentation, reporting, and compliance requirements. The resource persons provided practical demonstrations and engaged participants in interactive discussions to enhance hands-on understanding. They emphasized adherence to regulatory norms and the need for continuous monitoring to ensure compliance at all health facilities. Valedetiary Session at the end in which certificate of participation was given to all the participants by Director Health Services Jammu. Officials from DHSJ appreciated the efforts of the workshop team and stressed that such capacity-building initiatives are essential for improving service delivery and maintaining hygiene standards in healthcare settings. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the resource persons and participants for their active involvement and commitment toward strengthening bio-medical waste management practices across the division. |
