Painting Competition conducted by NHPC on Energy Conservation

Leh, Nov 24: The State/UT Level Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2025 was organised today on November 23 by NHPC Nimoo Bazgo Power Station under the aegis of Ministry of Power through the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) at DIET Hall, Leh.
The Administrative Secretary, School Education Department, Bhanu Prabha graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with HOP, Nimoo Bazgo Power Station, Sanjai Kumar Rai. The Guest of Honour for the event were Director, School Education, Tashi Dolma, Additional District Commissioner, Leh Ghulam Mohd and Chief Education Officer, Leh, Deldan Angmo. Also present at the event were Principal, DIET Leh, Mirza Mehdi, DGM MECH. Nimoo Bazgo Power Station, NK SINGH, Nodal Officer UT LADAKH for State/UT Level Painting competition 2025, Dr A. Dushyanth Kumar, Jury Member, Tashi Namgial and Jury Member, Nasreen Banoo.
The Administrative Secretary, SED appreciated NHPC for organising this competition and bringing together the talent from all zones. She urged the parents to encourage the students to participate in all kinds of activities. She also talked about the impact of climate change on Ladakh and how this competition will give the students a chance to paint their thoughts on climate change.
Additionally, the Director, SED said that energy conservation is the need of the hour and thanked NHPC for giving the students a platform. A picture speaks a thousand words has been beautifully depicted by the students in their paintings, she added.
Furthermore ADC, Leh Ghulam Mohd said that such a competition gives the students a chance to showcase their talent. He added that this opportunity by NHPC gives the students the exposure they need in their future prospects.
Also speaking at the event Head Of Power Station, Sanjai Kumar Rai thanked the distinguished guests for attending the event and the administration for aiding in conducting the competition. He also thanked the students for participating and painting their unique thoughts on the paper.He added that such competitions are conducted so that children inculcate the thought of energy conservation in their daily life.
A total of 102 students participated in the competition from both Kargil and Leh district, with 51 being from Group A ( Classes 5- 7) and 51 being from Group B ( Classes 8 - 10).
The winners of Group A were Aliya Zainab Jaffri (1st prize ) from Sawab Public School Baroo, Stanzin Gawa (2nd prize ) from LPS Leh and Stanzin Phantsok (3rd prize) from DPS Leh. From Group B the winners were Skalzang Lhamo (1st prize ) from JNV Leh, Stanzin Chosyangs (2nd prize ) from Druk Padma Karpo Leh and Stanzin Gyalpo (3rd prize) from JNV Kargil. Additionally 10 consolation prizes were given in each group.
The winners were rewarded with the prize money of Rs. 50,000 for the 1st rank, 20,000 for the 2nd rank and 10,000 for 3rd rank with 10 consolation prizes work 7500 each under 2 categories.
The SED not just facilitated the event but also ensured that the students from even the remote locations such as Nyoma, Nubra also participated in the event.
The winners will be competing at the National Level competition in Delhi in December.
