Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 26: PSPS Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu celebrated its Annual Sports Day 2025 on 26th November 2026 with great enthusiasm and vibrant participation. The event was organized by the Sports Committee and the Department of Physical Education & Sports in collaboration with the J&K Bank Gandhi Nagar Jammu. Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Prof. (Dr.) Seema Mir, Principal, GDC Sidhra, attended as the Guest of Honour. Dr. Shradha Anand, Convener, Sports Committee, formally welcomed the dignitaries. In her address, the Principal emphasized the significance of sports in cultivating discipline, teamwork, leadership, and healthy competition among students. She encouraged the participants to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and continue striving for excellence both on and off the field. The celebration featured a series of athletic events, cultural performances, and demonstrations, reflecting the college's strong commitment to holistic development. During the ceremony, the Sports Report for the session 2024-25 was presented, showcasing exceptional achievements. A total of 120 students participated across 17 Inter-Collegiate sports events. The college secured 8 trophies, 1 Runner-Up position, 6 Gold medals, and 1 Silver medal. Outstanding performances were recorded in Fencing, Basketball, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Handball, Netball, Yoga, Pencak Silat, and Wushu. The institution proudly acknowledged five International medalists-Nazia Bibi (Kho-Kho World Cup Winner), Aneesha Sharma (International Shooter, 3rd in All India Ranking), Akriti Sharma (Thang Ta National Medalist), Jiya Choudhary (Pencak Silat National Medalist), and Taniya (Netball National Medalist)-along with five National players: Shimani Choudhary (Shooting), Shamshad (Kho-Kho), Shazia Qureshi (Volleyball), Tania (Kabaddi), and Kiran Katoch (Kabaddi). Additionally, 22 students represented the college as Inter-University participants across various disciplines. The Sports Day 2025 results included competitive events such as Volleyball, Badminton, Tug of War, Athletics, Carrom, and various fun races, with students displaying exceptional enthusiasm, discipline, and sportsmanship. The event was successfully organized with the active participation and valuable contributions of the Sports Committee members. It concluded with a felicitation ceremony celebrating the achievements and efforts of the participating athletes, reaffirming the college's commitment to promoting excellence in sports. A formal Vote of Thanks was presented by Dr. Vijender Kumar, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and contributors for making the event a grand success. |
