| Stung by defeat, ANC rubbishes poll process in J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, May 17: The Awami National Conference (ANC) which drew blank in the just-concluded parliamentary elections today blamed the election commission of reducing the democracy in Kashmir to a "hoax" and turning a blind eye on the "several electoral bungling".
"ANC wants the people of the country and the valley to be aware of the kind of democracy that is being practiced here, which has been reduced to a hoax with the planning of election commission and a covert support of connivers", ANC President Begum Khalida Shah told reporters here today.
Khalida, who is elder sister of national conference president Farooq Abdullah, demanded replies from the EC concerning the 'disappearance' of votes cast in her favour.
Elaborating, she said, "ANC had deputed its agents at all the polling stations for Lok Sabha elections in Srinagar. All of them were also voters in their respective polling stations where they exercised their franchise in favour of the party.
The agents alone numbered 3,800, but on counting the result was lesser as only 2855 votes were shown to my credit."
