| MC Reasi issue | | HC stays Tribunal order on no-confidence motion | | Early Times Report Jammu, May18- In a petition filed by eight members of Municipal Committee Reasi, against the order of Special Tribunal Jammu directing for maintaining status-quo, Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar issued notice to State of J&K through Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Reasi, Yash Pal Verma President Municipal Committee Reasi and Suraj Parkash Ward No 12 Reasi and J&K Special Tribunal Jammu and ordered that subject to objections and till next date order impugned in this petition and proceeding before the Tribunal shall remain stayed. Advocate Yasser Ejaz Tak appearing for the petitioners submitted that majority of members of municipal committee Reasi filed a motion of no-confidence against the President and Vice President of Municipal Committee Reasi, acting on this motion the Executive Officer Municipal Committee Reasi issued communication on May 2, 2009 informing all the members of Municipal Committee Reasi that two meetings will be held for discussion of notice of intention to move motion of no-confidence against the President and Vice-President. Against the notice of intention to move no-confidence motion on April 29, 2009 a revision petition was filed by private respondents before the J&K Special Tribunal Jammu who vide its order May 1, 2009 directed for maintenance of status-quo. Counsel appearing for the petitioners further submitted that under Municipal Act 2000 no revision can be filed and it’s only an appeal which is permissible. Justice Muzaffar Hussain, after considering the arguments of the Advocate appearing for the petitioner, stayed the impugned order of the Special Tribunal. JNF
