Early Times Report CHANDIGARH, Dec 6: To honour the invaluable contribution made by private schools in elevating the stature of education, sports and culture in the country, Federation of Private Schools and Associations of Punjab (FAP) felicitated over 476 schools, chairpersons, principals, teachers and students with awards during the 5th edition of the FAP National Awards 2025 be held at Chandigarh University. The dignitaries who attended the FAP National Awards 2025 included Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chancellor, Chandigarh University, Satnam Singh Sandhu who presided over the inauguration ceremony as the Chief Guest along with Guest of Honor and actor-comedian Karamjit Anmol, and President of FAP Dr Jagjit Singh Dhuri. Actor and comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi attended the prize distribution ceremony as Guest of Honor. During the awards ceremony, 194 schools, teachers and students were felicitated with FAP National Awards 2025 for demonstrating excellence for excellence in cultural activities. This apart, 282 school principals, teachers and stduents were also felicitated with FAP Awards for excellence in Mega Olympiad Combat (MOC). Teams of 43 Schools who won 1st, 2nd, or 3rd position in the music, dance and art competitions held at Chandigarh University were also felicitated with FAP National Awards 2025. The nine categories in which these competitions were held included five music competitions (Indian folk song (solo), Indian folk song (group), wedding folk songs, Vaar and Kavishari), dance competitions (solo and group) and art competition in painting, sketching and collage making. In Vaar, the first position was won by Amrit Indo Canadian School Ludhiana and Guru Nanak International School, the second position was won Modern Secular Public School and third Jitendra Greenfield School. In Kavishri catgory, 1st prize was clinched by Disciplined Disciple International School, second prize was won by Mata Gujri Sen Sec School Patiala and third prize was bagged by Guru Nanak international school. In his inaugural speech, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chancellor Chandigarh University Satnam Singh Sandhu said, "Earlier, there were no awards that recognized the achievements of private schools, despite the fact that they constitute nearly 50 % of the school education system in our country. The FAP Federation has done exemplary work by introducing these awards and effectively filling this long-standing gap. In just five years since inception, FAP Awards today stand apart for their unwavering emphasis on transparency, merit, and impartial evaluation, ensuring that even remote and lesser-known institutions receive the recognition they truly deserve. This is the reason private schools from as many as 18 states of the country are participating in FAP Awards," |
