Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 8: Dr. Poonam Parihar, Professor, working in the Division of Agricultural Extension Education of SKUAST-Jammu has been honoured with the Excellence in Teaching Award in the 12thInternational Conference on Emerging Issues in Agricultural, Food Technology, Biological & Applied Sciences for Global Development (EIAFTBASGD-2025) organized by the Agro Environmental Development Society (AEDS), Rampur, UP & Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology, Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. The award was conferred on Dr Parihar in recognition of excellence she achieved in teaching & guiding the students and for outstanding contribution in the field of Agricultural Extension Education especially in the areas of entrepreneurship development, sensitization & mainstreaming gender in agriculture. The award contains a Certificate of Excellence along with a Memento. She also delivered a talk on her lead paper on the topic, "Gender Smart Agriculture: A Pathway to Sustainable Food Systems" Iin the 12th International Conference. She is having a vast experience of teaching at different places. Many students have done M.Sc & Ph.D under her supervision & guidance. She has published two books titled, "Women Entrepreneurs- A Socio-Economic Study" & "Impact of Dairy SHGs on the Livelihood of Women Dairy Entrepreneurs." Besides, she has contributed a number of book chapters in many books. She has around 150 publications, including 50 research papers published in different esteemed journals & also some newspaper articles. She invariably appears in TV and Radio talks in local language as well as in Hindi and English on the subject-Agricultural Entrepreneurship Development, mainstreaming gender in Agriculture & on other social aspects for making the rural women & youths self-reliant (Atamnirbhar). She is acting as a resource person of different NGOs. She also got more than15 Best paper/Poster presentation awards. She is also an Associate Editor & member of so many reputed research Journals & societies of extension education. She is the member of so many important committees of the University. She is the Executive of SKUAST-J Teaching Association. She is also having the International Exposure. She is also handling a JKST&IC sponsored project entitled, "Agripreneurship Development in Kandi belt of Jammu: A pathway for rural women & youth to become self-reliant where she along with the team of SKUAST-J experts made the farmers aware about the formulation & working of SHGs and their contribution in establishing women/youth agri-enterprises regarding processing, preservation, value addition, packaging & branding of value added products of minor fruits in kandi area which could generate the income, enhance their socio-economic status, reduces the unemployment & helps in making the agriculture sustainable She is acting as Vice president of the National Society named Royal Association for Science-Led Socio-Cultural Advancement (RASSA) based in Delhi working for promoting science & humanities for societal upliftment. She is also associated with different social organizations which are working for the overall development of women where she is imparting the education to the women/young girls to become socio-economically independent. She is also educating them regarding the humanity, self-defense, discipline, cultural & religious values which are very much important to lead a quality life. She is the recipient of different awards in recognition to her distinguish services for science & society e.g., RASSA Fellow Award, Best Teacher Award (2 in no.), Yashasvi Samman, Dr G.S. Vidyarthi Memorial Award, Bharat Jyoti Puraskar, ISEE Fellow Award, Presidential Award, Young Scientist Award, Rashtraya Gaurav Award, Best KVK Professional Award & Fellow of Hind Agri-Horticultural Society (FHAS) Award. |
