Udhampur, Dec 13: Police party of Police Station Chenani, while performing traffic checking duty at Naka Point, Motor Shed, NHW Chenani, intercepted a white Toyota Glanza taxi bearing registration number JK01BB-0130, which was travelling from Udhampur towards Kashmir. The vehicle was signaled to stop for routine checking.
During questioning, the driver disclosed his identity as Azhar Manzoor Bhat S/o Manzoor Ahmad Bhat R/o Zaldagar, Tehsil & District Srinagar. Upon personal search of the driver, a transparent polythene packet containing 03.70 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
On being questioned regarding the possession of the recovered narcotic substance, the accused failed to give any satisfactory explanation.
In this connection, FIR No. 129/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation is underway.
