Early Times Report POONCH, Dec 13: In a deeply moving and symbolic ceremony reflecting pride, unity and national spirit, Maj Gen Kaushik Mukherjee, SM, General Officer Commanding, Ace of Spades Division, laid the foundation stone for a 105-ft Monumental National Flag at Banwat View Point in Bandichechiyan (CCB) village of Poonch district. The occasion marked the commencement of a landmark project that will stand as a lasting symbol of courage, resilience and the aspirations of the people living in this border region. Set against the scenic backdrop of Poonch, the proposed monumental Tricolour is envisioned as a beacon of national pride and a tribute to the sacrifices made by generations in safeguarding the nation. The foundation stone laying ceremony also marked the launch of a month-long social initiative aimed at strengthening community bonds through collective participation, shared responsibility and a common vision for a brighter future. The grand inauguration of the National Flag is scheduled on 26 January 2026, coinciding with Republic Day. Upon completion, Banwat View Point is expected to emerge as a centre of patriotic inspiration, contributing to the promotion of tourism, reinforcing local cultural identity and instilling a renewed sense of belonging and national pride among the people of the region. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local villagers, community representatives, civil dignitaries and Indian Army personnel.
