Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 13: FICCI FLO Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh (JKL) has launched a focused Menstrual Hygiene Drive under the leadership of its Chairperson, Aarti Chowdhary, underscoring the organisation's belief that women's health and well-being are fundamental to their active participation in building a strong and progressive nation. The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with The Unati Agri Allied and Marketing Multistate Cooperative Society Ltd. (UAMMCL) and the Jammu & Kashmir Dairy Cooperative Federation Limited (JKDCF), under the leadership of Vikrant Dogra. This drive forms part of FICCI FLO's national collaboration with NIINE, through which 2,50,000 sanitary napkins have been made available for distribution across India via 21 FICCI FLO chapters. In Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh, the drive was conducted across the districts of Jammu, Kathua, and Samba, reaching nearly 600 women. The initiative went beyond the distribution of sanitary napkins to address awareness, education, and the urgent need to break societal taboos surrounding menstrual health. By fostering informed conversations, the drive aimed to empower women to prioritise their health with confidence and dignity. Recognising that informed healthcare support is crucial, the drive was strengthened by the active involvement of medical experts from SMVD Narayana Hospital, Jammu, and AIIMS Jammu, who conducted interactive awareness sessions in Kathua and Samba. These sessions focused on menstrual hygiene, preventive healthcare, and the importance of timely medical intervention. FICCI FLO JKL was represented by Varuna Anand, Varsha Bansal, Ruchika Gupta, Rupika Sahai, Sona Mehta, Nandita Bajaj, and Shipra Aggarwal, reflecting the collective commitment of the chapter's leadership towards meaningful social impact. Additionally, during the outreach programmes in Kathua and Samba, FICCI FLO EC Member Kanupriya Garg, an expert in Ayurvedic nutrition, addressed the women on holistic self-care, highlighting the role of balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and healthy lifestyle practices in maintaining overall well-being. Speaking on behalf of Chairperson Aarti Chowdhary, Varsha Bansal & Varuna Anand emphasised that women today are key contributors to economic growth, community resilience, and national development. Ensuring their health, dignity, and well-being is therefore not optional but essential. This belief lies at the heart of the Menstrual Hygiene Drive, which seeks to create awareness, encourage healthy practices, and enable women to participate fully and confidently in every sphere of life. Through this initiative, FICCI FLO JKL reaffirms its commitment to empowering women, strengthening communities, and driving sustainable change through collaboration and compassion. |
