| Tarigami condemns custodial killing | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, May 19- Condemning the killing of a civilian by security forces near Alocha Bagh in Srinagar on Monday, the state CPI (M) Secretary Mohammed Yusuf Tarigami has demanded that the culprits involved in the crime should be brought to justice. In a statement issued today Tarigami, termed the killing of Manzoor Ahmad Beg at Alochi Bagh as very unfortunate. He urged the government to bring the culprits to justice. He said such brute acts of violence further vitiate the peace and reconciliatory efforts being made at various stages. Vehemently criticizing the probe announced by the government, Tarigami said that facts are often dumped under the garb of such probes and investigations, which never see light of the day. “The government must identify the culprits and book them as per law,” he said. Tarigami also condemned the civilian killings by gunmen in Handwara during last few days. The two warring factions should refrain from making civilians their targets and spare them from brutalization, he appealed. Asking the government to ensure that no such incidents occur in future, the CPI (M) state secretary urged chief minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene in order to check human rights violations, for which he has made commitment to the people. The government should not allow such fringe elements who want to disturb peace, to prevail. Irrespective of his affiliations, anyone responsible for such barbaric acts should be dealt with strongly, Tarigami demanded.
