Ramnagar, Dec. 15: The NCORD Cell of Government Degree College Ramnagar organised an Awareness Lecture on the theme “Campus to Community: Drug Free India” under the able guidance of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal. The programme commenced with a formal welcome address by Dr. Sham Singh Kotwal, Head of the Department of Geology and Convenor, NCORD Cell, who highlighted the growing menace of drug abuse and emphasized the collective responsibility of educational institutions in spreading awareness among youth and the wider community. Prof. Sanjay Malhotra, Head of the Department of Commerce and Member, NCORD Cell, undertook the main session. In his address, he stressed that educational campuses play a pivotal role in shaping responsible citizens and must act as catalysts in the fight against drug abuse. He urged students to remain vigilant, make informed life choices, and act as ambassadors of a drug-free society by spreading awareness beyond the campus into the community. He further emphasized that prevention through awareness, peer support, and strong moral values is the most effective strategy to combat substance abuse. As part of the programme, students actively participated by preparing posters on the theme “Drug Free India”, reflecting their commitment and awareness towards building a healthy and addiction-free society. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation and was attended by a large number of students. The event was successfully organised by the NCORD Cell of the college comprising Dr. Sham Singh Kotwal (Convenor), Dr. Sunil Kumar, Dr. Jeevan Kumar, Prof. Anice Ahmed, Prof. Sanjay Malhotra, Prof. Tanmeet Kour, and Prof. Romesh Kumar. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Anice Ahmed, Member, NCORD Cell, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, and students for their active involvement in making the programme a success.
