| Officers asked for quick NOC to BRO | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May19- Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal today called for constituting a joint committee comprising District Development Commissioners, Chief Engineers of Project Sampark and Project Beacon as well as representatives of Forest, Floriculture and R&B for speeding up land acquisition cases for construction of roads in Jammu division. The Divisional Commissioner was speaking at a high-level meeting to review the progress of various land acquisition cases of the road works taken up under Project Beacon and Project Sampark in Jammu division. Shifting of utilities by different government departments during road widening work was also discussed in the meeting. District Development Commissioners of Udhampur, Kathua, Ramban, Samba, Kishtwar, Reasi, Chief Engineer M&RE, representatives of Project Sampark and Project Beacon, R&B, M&RE, PHE, Collectors, Land Acquisition participated in the meeting. Dr. Kotwal asked the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) officers to work in close coordination with the district heads as well as Collectors, Land Acquisition for accelerating disposal of land acquisition cases. He said that the constitution of joint committee would facilitate coordination between different agencies, adding that Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of respective districts would monitor the functioning of the committee in their jurisdiction. “BRO works should not suffer for want of NOC of land acquisition,” he maintained and added that BRO is slush with funds but the projects suffer due to delays in acquiring land for road construction. The Divisional Commissioner directed the Collectors, Land Acquisition that people should not suffer due to lack of coordination and delays in release of compensation for their land acquired for execution of different road projects. He further asked them to hold meeting with BRO Commanders every month and send progress report to his office regarding land acquisitions cases’ disposal.
