| SSP Ramban holds meeting with NGOs Operating in District Ramban | | |  early times report
Ramban, Dec 16: In furtherance of the ongoing efforts to ensure security, transparency, and effective coordination with civil society organisations, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban chaired a detailed meeting with the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) operating in District Ramban. The meeting was attended by representatives of 16 NGOs functioning in the district. The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ramban, District Social Welfare Officer Ramban, and DySP Headquarters Ramban also participated, underscoring the coordinated approach of the district administration and police. During the meeting, SSP Ramban emphasized the vital role played by NGOs in social welfare and community support, while also stressing the need for transparency and lawful functioning. He reiterated that Ramban Police remains committed to ensuring peace and security in the district and to preventing any misuse of NGOs by adversarial or anti-national elements. He stated that the endeavour of Ramban Police is to facilitate genuine social work while simultaneously strengthening oversight to safeguard the security of the area. The SSP Ramban and ADM Ramban also placed on record his appreciation for the commendable efforts of NGOs during recent landslides and flood situations in the district. They particularly lauded the contribution of volunteers of various NGOs, who worked round the clock during accidents and emergencies on the National Highway, providing timely assistance to victims and extending crucial support to the police and district administration during critical situations. The discussions focused on seeking comprehensive details from NGOs regarding their members details,registration status, activities, and assets. NGOs were asked to submit copies of their registration certificates, details of properties acquired and existing in their name since inception, a brief note on activities carried out during the year 2025 supported with photographs, and copies of their latest audit report of assets,contributions conducted by Chartered Accountants. They were also directed to provide information regarding any expansion or acquisition of assets, including land with relevant revenue particulars and location details, shops, houses or other immovable properties, as well as movable assets such as vehicles. Emphasis was also laid on compliance with the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). NGOs were asked to clarify whether they hold FCRA registration and, if applicable, to submit complete details of funds received under FCRA, including balance sheets and particulars of donors or contributors. The meeting concluded with an appeal for continued cooperation between NGOs, the district administration, and the police to promote transparency, accountability, and communal harmony. SSP Ramban reiterated that such engagements are part of the proactive strategy of Ramban Police to ensure the security of the district while encouraging and supporting genuine welfare activities carried out by NGOs.
