Early Times Report SAMBA, Dec 16: Rising Star Corps solemnly commemorated the 54th Anniversary of the Battle of Basantar at the hallowed Khetarpal War Memorial, Samba, paying heartfelt tribute to the supreme sacrifice of the bravehearts who secured victory during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. The ceremony unfolded in an atmosphere of deep reverence, echoing the timeless legacy of valour, duty, and patriotism that defines the Indian Army. The commemoration was attended by Senior Army officers, the District Commissioner, Samba alongwith civil dignitaries, local youth and members of the Samba Club, reflecting a shared commitment to honour the Nation's heroes. The presence of nearly 130 participants, comprising military personnel and civilians alike, stood as a powerful symbol of the enduring bond between the Armed Forces and civil administration. The programme included the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial, followed by solemn reflections on the Battle of Basantar-an epic chapter in India's military history marked by extraordinary courage and sacrifice.
