Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 16: The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu, through its Department of Outreach and Skill Development, hosted an educational visit for 120 students along with their escorts from Gurukul Higher Secondary School, Reasi. The initiative aimed to expose school students to higher education, scientific learning, and emerging opportunities in STEM fields. The visiting students belonged to Classes XI and XII, representing both Medical and Non-Medical streams. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Director, IIT Jammu, Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur; Dean, Prof. Meenakshi Rajeev; and Associate Dean, Dr. Sameer K. S. P. As part of the visit, students toured key academic and laboratory facilities of the institute, including the Biology, Chemistry, and Physics Laboratories. Faculty members and technical staff provided hands-on demonstrations and explained fundamental scientific concepts, offering students a practical perspective on classroom learning. An engaging interaction session was conducted by Ashutosh, a third-year B.Tech student, along with his team. The session introduced students to the basics of electronics, programming, and Arduino, giving them valuable insights into real-world engineering applications. The interactive discussion sparked curiosity and enthusiasm among the students, encouraging them to explore future opportunities in engineering and other STEM disciplines. The visit concluded with a lively question-and-answer session, during which students raised queries related to career pathways, engineering disciplines, and student life at IIT Jammu. The queries were addressed thoughtfully, motivating students to pursue their aspirations with clarity and confidence. Through such outreach initiatives, IIT Jammu continues to reaffirm its commitment to nurturing young minds, promoting experiential learning, and inspiring the next generation of innovators and leaders. |
