Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Dec 19: Concerns over the acute shortage of basic sports infrastructure at the Udhampur Sports Stadium were formally raised today with the Leader of Opposition, Shri Sunil Sharma, through a memorandum submitted on behalf of local players. The memorandum highlighted the ground realities of the stadium, pointing out the absence of essential facilities such as a proper indoor hall, cricket turf, and modern infrastructure required for various sports disciplines. These shortcomings, it was stated, are severely affecting the training, performance, and future prospects of young sportspersons from the region. The issue was brought to the forefront by social activist Gagan Sharma, who emphasized the ongoing injustice being faced by Udhampur's players due to inadequate facilities and lack of developmental support. Responding to the concerns, Leader of Opposition Shri Sunil Sharma assured that necessary steps would be taken at the earliest to improve the stadium's infrastructure. He stated that providing proper facilities is crucial to ensure that young athletes from Udhampur get a supportive environment to pursue and achieve their sporting ambitions. While the assurance has raised hope among players and sports enthusiasts, there is a strong expectation that these promises will soon translate into visible action on the ground. "Only if sports survive, will the future of our youth shine," the memorandum concluded. |
