DC Doda reviews functioning of SPCA

DODA, Dec 19: Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of the District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex.
The meeting was convened to review the overall functioning, coordination mechanism and implementation of animal welfare measures in the district.
Emphasis was laid on strengthening institutional coordination and ensuring effective enforcement of provisions related to the prevention of cruelty to animals.
Detailed discussions were held on rescue and rehabilitation of stray and injured animals, regulation and monitoring of animal welfare activities, strengthening of veterinary support and effective response mechanisms for cases of animal cruelty. The Chair also reviewed the role and responsibilities of the District and Management Committees as framed under Government Order.
The Deputy Commissioner issued directions for enhanced inter-departmental coordination among the Police, Forest, Wildlife, Municipal and Panchayat departments to ensure timely action on animal cruelty cases.
The DC stressed the need for public awareness initiatives, proper documentation of cases and regular review meetings to monitor progress. Directions were also issued to ensure availability of basic infrastructure and logistical support for animal welfare activities across the district.
The meeting was attended by the ACD Din Mohd Afaqi; CPO Manesh Kumar Manhas; ACP Mushraf Haff; Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Dr. Irfan Ali Wani; Executive Officer Municipal Council Yasir Wani, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Bhaderwah Ravi Kumar; Assistant Wildlife Warden; District Panchayat Officer and members of the Management Committee SPCA, including Senior Vice President Mohammad Bashir Zargar; Joint Secretary, Mohammad Sharief Butt; Vice President Dr. Farooq Ahmed Kelam and Treasurer Naseer Ahmed Khora and other officials from Animal Husbandry Department.
