| Mazdoor Sangh demands revision of minimum wages | | | Early Times Report Samba May 20: The activists of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) led by its presidents Lakshaman Ravinder Singh hold massive protest rally in front of Dy. Commissioner Office here today and demanded revision of minimum wages of private sector workers. Addressing the workers Singh blamed the state govt that 6th pay commission report has been implemented in J&K state but the poor and low paid workers who hardly get minimum wages of Rs 66 per day which was fixed in the year 2005 workers are waiting for revision the stare govt is not serious and no notification of minimum wages has not been issued of far despite taking decision general secretary Harbans Choudhary while addressing the workers demanded that contract labour system need to abolished as these contracts are to genuine under contract act and only the labour supplier who has become middle man and depriving the workers from statutory benefits and local workers are also discouraged by these labour supplier and factories by giving them less wages with colorable powers. Labour leader submitted memorandum chief minister through D.C samba for immediate action in this matter as there is lot of exploitation of poor workers. The Dy. Commissioner gave patient hearing and assured that he will also ask the labour Deptt. To take action in violation of labour laws.
