Amritsar, Dec 24: The Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh inaugurated the fully functional Community Radio Station GNDU RAABTA 89.6 FM at the Department of Mass Communication, Guru Nanak Dev University, marking the realisation of a long-cherished vision of the Department. The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Dean Academic Affairs Prof. (Dr.) Palwinder Singh. The Head of the Department, Prof. Vasudha Sambyal, along with all faculty members and students, was also present on the occasion. Along with the Community Radio Station, the Department has also established a TV Studio, which is steadily progressing towards full recording and production functionality. These facilities will significantly enhance practical training, experiential learning, and professional preparedness of students in media and communication studies. Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh said, “Community radio and television studios serve as living laboratories for our students. They not only strengthen professional skills but also connect the University with society by giving voice to local issues, culture, and aspirations. Such platforms prepare our students to become socially responsible and industry-ready media professionals.” He further added that “these initiatives are fully aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasizes experientialt learning, skill development, and greater integration between academics and real-world practice.” The faculty and staff of the Department of Mass Communication expressed their sincere gratitude to the University’s higher authorities for their visionary leadership, sustained support, and patronage in creating state-of-the-art academic infrastructure at GNDU. The initiative reflects the University’s continued commitment to quality education, innovation, and skill-based learning. |
