Trout Fish farming taken up in Bhaderwah

Jammu May 20: The Department of Fisheries has taken up Trout Fish Farming Project biggest in Jammu Division and Second biggest in J&K State, at village Bheja in Bhaderwah of District Doda. The project is spread in a area of more than 70 kanals and is estimated to cost about Rs 300 lacs was started during the year 2007-08 and likely to be completed in three phases. During the 1st phases fencing of land, leveling and stressing, construction of 10 pairs of raceways, feeding channels and sedimentation tanks are to be completed. Two pairs of Raceways have been completed and work on 3rd pair is going on. One pair of Raceways was stoked with 5000 Nos. of quality fingerlings of work famous Rainbow Trout on May 10, 2009. The seed was transported from Trout Fish Farming Project Kokernag from Kashmir valley.
With the commencing of this Project Trout Fisheries will get a big boost and world best Trout will be available to all. Besides quality fish seed will also be available to the interested fish farmers who can take Trout farming as source of employment the release added.
