| Corporators talk tough in JMC meet | | | Early Times Report Jammu,May 20, : The general house meeting of the Jammu Municipality corporation began on a stormy note on Wednesday as large number of corporators demanded strict action against those who were violating norms of building construction and indulging in illegal construction on Tawi bund. Cornering JMC commissioner Mubark Singh for failing to identify the defaulters former Mayor Raju Singh alleged that large number of illegal construction have come up near Tawi bund but the senior officials of the JMC were adopting stoic silence over the issue.During the general house meeting several corporators also raised the issue of construction of mobile towers in the old city area and sought a balket ban on the contruction to avoid health hazards. Clarifying the stand JMC Commossioner made several attempts to pacify the agitating corporators saying that if a piece of land is made available to the mobile companies there should be no ban as providing communication facility to residents living in the old city area is also important. During the day long general house meeting Mayor Kavinder Gupta discussed several new projects with the city coprorators and porposed that several projects in the pipe line would be sent for clearance to kickstart the work onthe same with an aim to beautify the city of temples.
