MYAS–GNDU Department of Sports Sciences, Medicine selected as National Best Institution for Sports Sciences–Based Courses

Amritsar, Dec 26: MYAS–GNDU Department of Sports Sciences & Medicine of Guru Nanak Dev University has added another feather to its cap under the leadership of Prof. Karamjeet Singh by achieving a landmark national distinction of being selected as “National Best Institution for Sports Sciences–Based Courses in India” by CSRI, New Delhi. The selection is based on the national ranking of the Top 100 Universities and Institutions in Sports and Physical Education, jointly conducted by CSRI and the Sports Assessment and Audit Board (SAAB). Institutions were evaluated on multiple parameters, including academic quality, infrastructure, research contributions, industry linkage, and impact on sports development.
Expressing his delight over the achievement, Prof. Dr. Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GNDU, remarked, “This prestigious recognition is a matter of immense pride for the entire GNDU fraternity. GNDU’s sports sciences ecosystem is supported by state-of-the-art research laboratories, advanced sports rehabilitation facilities. The university maintains strong collaborations with national sports bodies, professional organizations, and industry partners, providing students with hands-on training, internships, and exposure to elite sporting environments. The VC further mentioned that MYAS GNDU Department of Sports Sciences & Medicine of Guru Nanak Dev University has been a pioneer in the field of Sports Sciences working as a NCSSR Centre of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India since 2017 running dedicated PG programmes in Sports Physiotherapy, Sports & Exercise Physiology, Sports Biomechanics, Sports Psychology along with the Doctoral program.
Dr Amrinder Singh , Head , MYAS–GNDU Department of Sports Sciences & Medicine mentioned that the Alumnus of this Department have been well placed all over the country including BCCI , Hockey India, SAI, Olympic Gold Coast , Khleo India, Ambani Hospital & Medical research Institute, Army Sports Institute, ABT Performance Centre, IIS, Tata Steel to name a few.
