Academy organized musical programme

JAMMU, MAY 20 - Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organized a musical programme at K. L. Saigal Hall here today.
Renowned artist Mr. Praduman Singh Jindrahia was the chief guest while prominent singer, Prof. Kailash Mehra was the guest of honour. Special Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Mr T R Sharma was also present.
Mr. Praduman Singh Jindrahia congratulated the singers for presenting soulful musical items. He also appreciated the Cultural Academy for organizing such a wonderful musical programme to promote local talent and hoped that such activities will also continue in future. Prof. Kailash Mehra, in his address said that Jammu and Kashmir State produced innumerable has talented artists, musicians, singers who have earned distinction both within and outside the country. Applauding the role of Cultural Academy, she said that Academy contributed a lot to project the hidden talent of the State and provide them platform to exhibit their talent at national and international scene.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, Mrs. Savita Bakshi said that in this summer session, Academy has decided to organize regular activities in the field of literature, music and culture so that the local artists, writers and musicians can be encouraged and provided a better platform. She futher informed that in June, 2009, Children’s summer workshop for different age groups will be organized and in this month-long workshop children will be trained in painting, dance, theatre and music. The artists who presented their musical items included Ms. Neelam Langeh, Mr. Subhash Langeh, Mrs. Rita Kharial and Prikishit Dev Singh. The musicians who accompanied with the artists included Mr. Sunil Sharma (Synth), Joginder Pal (Tabla), Rajinder Kumar and Rakesh Anand. Ms. Chanchal Sharma, Research Assistant, Dictionary conducted the proceedings while Mtr. Shamima Akhtar S.O.C.A, GI, presented vote of thanks. A large number of artists, musicians, prominent citizens attended the programme.
