Shaheed Aman Memorial Tournament concludes

KISHTWAR, Dec 27: The final match of the 5th edition of Shaheed Aman Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament was played with great enthusiasm and sporting fervour at the historic Chowgan Ground, Kishtwar, marking the successful conclusion of the prestigious tournament which commenced on 01-10-2025.
The closing ceremony and final match were graced by the presence SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh-JKPS, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma-JKAS, Commanding Officer, 07 Assam Rifles, Vikrant Gupta, who addressed the gathering and appreciated the collective efforts of the organizers, players, district administration, and security agencies for making the tournament a grand success.
The final match was contested between Zafroon Pochal and Bhaderkashi, wherein Zafroon Pochal emerged victorious by 4 wickets, showcasing excellent performance, discipline, and sportsmanship.
The tournament witnessed record-breaking participation, with 144 teams from different parts of the district Kishtwar, Ramban and Doda. A total of 116 matches were played, making it one of the largest and most successful cricket tournaments ever organized in Kishtwar district.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Kishtwar paid rich tributes to Shaheed DySP Aman, stating that the tournament is dedicated to the supreme sacrifice of the brave martyr and all fallen heroes who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. He emphasized that such sporting events serve as a reminder of courage, dedication, and selfless service, while also strengthening unity and discipline among the youth.
Delivering a special message to the youth of Kishtwar, the SSP urged them to adopt sports as a way of life and channel their energy in a positive direction. He advised the youth to stay away from drugs, violence, and other social evils, and to make discipline, fitness, and integrity the guiding principles of their lives. He stressed that sports inculcate teamwork, leadership, respect for rules, and a sense of responsibility, which are essential for nation-building. He assured that Kishtwar Police will continue to encourage and support sports and youth-centric initiatives in the district.
The final match and closing ceremony were also witnessed by senior officers of the Army, Addl. SP Kishtwar Pardeep Singh Goria-JKPS, Addl. SP PC Kishtwar Nisar Khoja-JKPS, Dy. SP Headquarters Kishtwar, Dy. SP PC Kishtwar, besides other officers of the Police and Civil Administration. A large number of spectators from different parts of the district were also present and witnessed the thrilling final match, lending the event a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
