Early Times Report POONCH, Dec 28: The Martyrs Premier League - Season 3 (MPL-3) concluded on a high note with Star Viper Cricket Club clinching the championship title, while Smashers Cricket Club finished as runners-up. The tournament witnessed participation from 28 teams, reflecting strong youth engagement and the growing sports culture in the border district of Poonch. The final match was graced by Brigadier Sachindra Joshi VSM, Commander 93 Infantry Brigade, as the Chief Guest. Ajaz Jan, MLA Haveli, was present, while Riyaaz Naaz, DDC Loran, Neeraj Sharma, DySP Headquarters, and Adil Mir, JKAS officer, attended as Guests of Honour. In the first innings of the final, Star Viper Cricket Club posted a commanding total of 239 runs in 20 overs, with Sohail Qureshi emerging as the top scorer, laying the foundation for their victory. The match began with an interaction of teams with Commander 93 Infantry Brigade along with Commanding Officer, 12 Bihar Regiment, along with Advocate Zeshan Syed, Chairman of the Haq Insaaf Council. The opening ceremony featured the National Anthem, followed by a two-minute silence in remembrance of the martyrs of the nation and a pledge against drug abuse, reinforcing the core theme of the league. The prize distribution ceremony was attended by MLA Ajaz Jan, DDC Riyaaz Naaz, DySP Neeraj Sharma, and Advocate Zeshan Syed. Addressing the gathering, Advocate Zeshan Syed welcomed the dignitaries and expressed gratitude to the Indian Army, civil administration, and police for their unwavering support. He specifically acknowledged the contributions of 5 JAK LI under Gourav Joshi, 12 Bihar Regiment under Colonel Vipin Prashar, and Indian Army Artillery under Tejpal Singh. He also thanked District Magistrate Ashok Kumar Sharma, Shafqat Hussain SSP, the Chief Medical Officer, the Executive Officer of the Municipality Poonch, the Jal Shakti Department, and other line departments for their cooperation. The successful culmination of MPL-3 was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Haq Insaaf Council team, including Ikhlaq Mehmood, Danish Pathan, Waseem Qureshi,Kamran Ali,Mohd Mashooq, Yasir Chisty, Rehan Rather, Firdous Mir, Saqib Kirmani, Daman Sharma, Inzimam Ahmed, Istikhar Ahmed, and several other volunteers who played a vital role in organising and managing the tournament. |
