Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 28: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services & Sports, Science & Technology and ARI & Trainings, Satish Sharma today conducted an extensive public outreach programme in Block Chowki Choura as part of the Omar Abdullah-led Government's commitment to people-centric and participatory governance.
The Minister was accompanied by concerned sectoral officers of various departments.
The visit was aimed at taking stock of development works, reviewing the implementation of welfare schemes, and directly interacting with the people at the grassroots level. Satish Sharma held a public meeting at Dev Sathan Padoon Panchayat Ghar, Chowki Choura, where large numbers of residents, Panchayat representatives and local youth raised issues related to food supplies, transport facilities, IT-enabled services, sports infrastructure, scientific awareness and other developmental needs. The Minister listened patiently to all the grievances and assured the people that their concerns would be addressed on priority.
The Minister also visited Jhang and Sandle Panchayat Majoor, Block Chowki Choura, where he chaired another public meeting. He reviewed the functioning of different line departments including FCS&CA, Transport, Information Technology, Science & Technology, Youth Services & Sports and ARI & Trainings, and assessed the status of ongoing and proposed development works in the area.
While interacting with people, the minsiter got feedback about development undertaken by the government. People in general appreciated the work being done by the present dispensation and termed as one of the historic initiatives meant to ensure holistic development.
Addressing the gatherings, Satish Sharma said that the government is committed to ensuring transparent, accountable, and responsive administration and that no area, especially rural and border regions, will be left behind in the development process. He emphasised that the benefits of government schemes must reach every eligible family without delay.
The Minister also highlighted the government's focus on youth empowerment through sports, technology, innovation, and skill development. He said that investments in sports infrastructure, digital governance, and scientific institutions are being made to provide better opportunities for the younger generation of Jammu and Kashmir.
Directing the sectoral officers accompanying him, Satish Sharma asked them to take immediate note of the issues raised by the public and to ensure their timely resolution. He also instructed the officers to maintain regular contact with local representatives so that problems can be addressed at the earliest.
Reaffirming the Omar Abdullah-led Government's commitment to inclusive development and people-friendly governance, the Minister said that such public outreach programmes will continue across the Union Territory to strengthen the bond between the government and the people and to ensure effective implementation of development initiatives.
